Cedar Rapids Urban hunt

The way antis twist things, they will most likely use this to "prove" that bow hunting isn't working.

I guess I shouldn't say too much as I won't drive to Coralville or CR to participate in these urban hunts, not when I can get to where I hunt just as fast or faster. If I lived in either city, I would probably do it though.

I could swear we took a good chunk out of the population in Des Moines this year, but when I talked to the Des Moines administrator for the urban hunt he said numbers were still up.

Some opponents argue that hunting of deer makes deer reproduce more, an idea the DNR says is not in line with fact in Iowa.

Now I have heard it all. I think if they openned up a little more land to the hunt they would have more success.

I see a huge decrease in the number of deer/vehicle collisions from before the inception of the hunt to now, I know there wasn't a difference from 2005 to 2006 but compared to the years prior to the hunt being allowed there is a nice drop. They are right on with needing to open a few more areas, especially the landfill area that is like walking a mine field if you hit it at the right time of day.

The only "PROBLEM" there is, is that they are still charging for antlerless tags. Try a year or two of "FREE TAGS" and see how any more are reduced.....

When you are charging someone that is trying to help you, then you are not doing anyone any favors.
