Hey, I'm helping my buddy out with his metal building (building already up and working on plumbing it)- I'm in charge of the project. Even though it's 1.5 hours from my farm- I can hunt there and happy to help him- he put me in charge of all. He has a 30x50 metal building- with outside driveway and walk-way it'll be about 1800 square feet of cement. Need living area smoother. I'm having it plumbed soon. I have 2 names so far BUT.... What's a good price for everything per square foot? Do u know top notch guys that would do this and be competitive? I'll check around on price- want good work for good price. Ready to roll when plumbing is done. Need a couple drains, possibly some fill (which can discuss that cost) and smashing down floor for a few ground hog holes. Easy stuff. Any help GREATLY APPRECIATED!!!!

To bad you do not live closer Skip.
I could help you out.
When you get closer to here let me know.

Skip,

What is the thickness of the floor in the building? Is this all living area?

If so I assume 4" thick with wiremesh, vapor barrier etc.?

On the exterior I assume 5 1/2 - 6" thick with rebar?

Thank you.

Depends on how thick the floor will be, your ready-mix market, and the quality of the contractor. Here's a general rule of thumb in east-central Iowa:

Being inside you'll probably pour a floor that's 4 inches thick. If you're parking tractors or equipment you'll want to make it 5 inches, or even 6. For every inch of thickness you add your concrete will double in strength.

Conservatively, you can estimate your costs as needing 19 yards of concrete (for a 4" floor in a 30x50 shop). Figure $100 per yard delivered. A good contractors will place that mud for $5k to $7k depending on how hard you want him to work it. You'll need steel as well. You're looking at $9k to $10k for your floor.

Yeah, inside I would say 4"- living area BUT has a small garage that may have a regular vehicle. outside- it's just a walk & driveway area. Total would be AROUND 1800 square feet. I've heard everything TOTAL from $2.25 to $3.25 per square foot with all of it. What ya think? Thanks for above too!!!! Much appreciated!

Skip,

There are a lot of variables like bukket mentioned.

I was going to say between $4.00 and $5.50 a sqft.
That is material and labor.
At the prices you described if that is
material and labor I would jump on that in a second.

I'm putting up a 50x88 building right now in eastern ia. Flatwork for 5" with rebar is running me about 3.40 a sq. ft. I'm putting 8' walls around storage end and 4' walls around 50x32 shop end with flatwork and drains for $27,000.

Been doing this for 25 years now and know that is what they have been
quoting me on my estimates.

Maybe commercial brings more than agricultural
don't know.

Good luck to you.
