Chocolate Lab

katy

Ballagh
Long painful story short. I adopted a chocolate lab from the animal rescue league about 8 years ago. He was 1.5 years old when we adopted him. Last summer I had to have him put down due to uncontrollable seizures and epilisy(?????). He was like a son to us. Now that the girls are getting a bit older, they still see the pictures and are starting to ask for another pet. After some heartbreaking thoughts, I want to get another. This time I would like to get a pup though. Does anyone know anybody that has chocolate pups. Would like to have the squared off head, and a dark coat. Though someome might know a breeder.

Thanks.

I know several breedes in my area but none have litters at the present time. I'll let you know if I hear of anything

a buddy of mine has one yellow male left. i have another friend that has a litter on the way, not sure if she'll throw a choclate

actually, i have just the puppy for you. she would be PERFECT for your family, especially your little girls. its quite a bit smaller than a lab, though

Chad if your not real particular about it being a chocolate a friend of mine has a mess of yellow pups. Let me know if your interested.

My parents are on there second lab in five years the first one had to be put to sleep because its siezers were getting so bad. The vet said it wasn't epilepcy and didn't know why he had them. Now here a few months ago there there new lab that is about two is having them. Had a bunch of tests they say its not epilepcy. Does anyone know of anything a dog could eat that could trigger seizers. Maybe its just bad luck.

Dont know, that is my worst fear. It is very painful watching him lock up during his seizure. I do not want to go throught that again, but I know there is no way of knowing. All the vets we went to had no clue why he was doing this, and basically said there was nothing that could be done! Maybe shredder can add some insight to this!

My shorthair had 2 seizures in the same day and they did every test in the book it was several years ago and if I remember right she was low on white

blood cells is the only thing they could come up with. Thankfully she hasn't had one since

I had a litter of chocolates about two month ago, but they are all sold. I don't know of anybody else around here with any good stock that they bred.
If you want to have the dog shipped or drive a long ways I am sure I could call around to some other breeders and find a pup.

Seizures can be caused by a variety of things including both primary and secondary epilepsy. They can also be the result of a blow to the head, calcium deficiencies in nursing mothers, end stage heartworm disease, toxic plants, chemicals, fertilizers and poisonings among a few other things.

Well - we found the perfect one. AKC, Chocolate, Sire DNA Certified, OFA, Master Hunter- Dam, SD Kellog Top Hunter, Vet OK.

Kind of like Bonker, or deerslayer, or shortfused, or moose270, I know ONECAM! He will be sure to find the big ones. Big brown shed hunting machine!

Fudge? Hershey? Turd? Skidmark? Count Chockula?

I don't know crap about dogs, or anything else for that matter, but he does have an intelligent look in his eyes.

well, he's brown....how about skidmark?

if you name him hoyt, he's gonna be slow and have the shakes

Supposed I could name him Boat Wreck I mean bowtec. In case he is loud, shakey, heavy, goofy looking, a knockoff, overpriced, inexperienced, geez tell me when to stop.

Why is it my posts always turn south into the crapper?
