Clover in Field Pea Plots

Was wondering if it would be possible/benneficial to add some type of clover to my pea plantings this year. I am going to be planting some early for plowdown value, and then some later in the summer for pod production. I will include oats with both, but was thinking about adding some clovers for additional forage. Thinking berseem with the early spring plots for plowdown and some red with the later summer plantings. Will this work, and what rates should I use with Peas, oats, and clovers.

thanks

I believe the clover would be too competitive with the peas at first and then eventually the peas can be suffucating themselves and if they get going would canopy and cover the clover.

What I did was overseed winter rye into the peas in September so that as they dried down the rye started to green up (same thing can be done with soybeans)
