I always call my dad when I get to a property and let him know which spot I am at. Then I have exactly 1 hour after legal shooting light ends to contact him back at the car before he sends out the search party.
Both farms where I bow hunt I park by the land owners home and also let my wife know where I will be.When I bird hunted I would load up the dogs and could end up anywhere in the state depending on which way I pointed the truck.I also call home when headed that way to let them know I'am on my way,and give my wife time to get her boyfrind out of the house.
In some places...like my early season places, the landowner and one friend would know where to find me. Once the rut hits and they start to wander, so do I. The predators may have their way with my body.
Bonker was shown my secret spot a couple years ago. I'm certain that if I was missing he'd bring the chopper to rescue me. With him on the beat I now hunt with total confidence he'd save me.
Seriously though, I hunt only off the ground and have about five favorite natural ground hides I hunt from. The wife and my friends know how much I hunt the wind so they should be able to locate me.
Only trouble is, I'm a big guy and they'd probably have to field dress me to get me out of the woods.

[/ QUOTE ]LOL, I know what you mean. I am 6'3" and weigh 210. My wife carried my bow while my buddies cleared sticks out of my way. I CRAWLED a 1/4 mile on my hands and knees out of there. The terrain was just too rugged for them to help me. I mainly just needed the ride home cause I couldn't drive and there was no way I was going to leave my $1000 bow out in the woods. My knees hurt as bad as my ankle.
