There have been threads about how scent lock clothing doesn't work (at least long term), and I agree. Do a search on Iawhitetail for the thread.

As far as the breath issue, my suggestion would be what I always recommend, place your stand downwind of where you expect deer to travel.

Bonkerized? Does this mean you shaved your tongue and dressed it in bonkerflage?

There are a couple of mouth sprays out there that are suppose to be good covers, dead down wind is one of them, might want to give them a shot.

With a name like that, not sure I want to spray it in my mouth!! I've been "down wind of dead" before and it wasn't pretty!

Naw, just shaved it and slatherd on the stick deodorant. Bonkerflage sticks to the roof of your mouth.

I do use Gum-O-Flage though with a full scent-lok face mask/head cover. I think it works pretty good. With the full face mask/head cover you breath in what you breath out. I can sure tell the difference if I don't chew the Gum-O-Flage. At first I bought it as a joke and I belive I even refered to it on this site as Gum-O-Ripoff. I bought some just to show my wife. I actually think it has some merit.

Personally, I used to use all the scent-crap. Deer can smell human oder (from what I've heard) down to like 10 parts per million. They can distinguish between human scent and anything you lay over-top of it. I swear to god I've been winded less when NOT using the scent-killer type sprays and Scent-Lok clothing.

One particular conversation with a guy who's killed more giant bucks than anyone I personally know pretty much changed the way I thought about "scent-elimination". He told me straight-out, it's a joke. This guys been hunting mature whitetails longer than I've been alive, so I listened!

As far as mouth cover or scent. I usually brush my teeth and then take baking soda with water and gargle for a while. It's not a minty fresh taste in your mouth but you have to try to kill as much bacteria as possible.

I am far from an expert, but is there a difference if he is hunting and killing giant bucks during rut? Can't you get by with being a little smelly if the big boy is more intrested in does and breeding and therfore a little less cautious? Were you winded more in prerut? Were you winded more in a heavily hunted area?

Again, I am not an expert, I have very little experience bow hunting BUT since I started paying stricter attention to scent elimination I have fooled alot more deer. I just can't hit 'em.

What did you think I used to rinse the antipersperant off my toung? I know I've got 'er all gone when I start to feel the sting, then I have to keep rinsin and swallowin to ease the pain. I HAVE to take a few swigs before the hunt to calm the shakes from so much rinsin after the hunt. Its a vicious cycle.

Hunt the wind, plain and simple. You get winded by a 4-1/2 year old and you're done. If he's on a hot doe, you may stand a chance, but it has not yet happened to me.

There are some guys on this site who have killed some giants year after year. Any contribution to this topic guys?

The guy I was refering to has killed most of his big bucks by hunting the particular buck, not getting lucky during the rut (which is how most big-guys die).
