Coyote or Wolf????

I got this pic in S.E. MN last week on my corn pile. I know that it isn't a pet dog or anything like that. It is either a coyote or wolf. There are not supposed to be any wolves in S.E. MN, but I guess you never know.

I have the sheds from this buck (129" 8 pt) and saw him several times this year. He is at least 200 pounds dressed. He is standing in almost the exact spot as this black dog.

I have moved my camera about 75 yards away and have a yote bait pile set up. I only hope to get another pic of this animal.
 
Looks pretty darn big to be a coyote. Tail looks like a wolf too. I know that wolves are spreading more and more throughout Minnesota but my guess is this is a coyote-dog cross of some sort. I hope you get a better pic.
 
Filled out to much for a yote and too tall otherwise. Could be a dark phase timber wolf....may be a cross of a wolf/malamute......(I have one of those at the clinic today)
 
Having harvested one, I would have to say part wolf. The tail and the size of the chest definately look wolf or wolf hybrid, but I have been wrong before, just ask my wife.
 
I know it would be strange if it was a wolf, but I have shot a wolf before. I know what they look like. I shot one in Alberta a few years ago that has similar markings to whatever this animal is. I HOPE that it is a coyote, because I would love to have a full body mount of a black coyote to go next to my black wolf. I will be checking my camera again in a few days to see if it was passing through, or possibly lives in the area.

I was thinking what Talltines was thinking. The paws do look pretty small. I would say that is most likely a coyote. And I also think that if your trying to get another pic of him you may not be so lucky as to see him again. But I could be wrong.

I know the odds are slim to none that I will get another pic of him, but I am going to try. I have a pretty decent sized bait pile set up with my camera....plus we are supposed to get a snow storm later in the week. I will cross my fingers, but won't count on getting another picture.
 
How damn big is that wolf you shot? That thing looks huge! And where the heck is the pic of the full body mount?!?!?!
 
The wolf was 140 lbs and was HUGE. I doubt that the black animal that I have in my trail cam pic is quite that big.

I'm torn on what I think it is. Parts of me say both. I hope you get at least a head photo of that bad boy! Let's see if we can sneak out and get him when I come down there Josh.
