Good stuff TH, I'm so inspired, you are now my avatar :D :way:
LMAO, I noticed your avatar was different before I read what you wrote. Then it hit me.
Well done TH. I know how cold that probably was. Tried crossing a creek last year walleye fishing just after ice out. Hit a hole that was up to my arm pits and that was a real eye opener.

Nice job TH! Soaking in the creek cleaned the skull out good too. Sure beats those rank, mummified skulls.:way:

Not sure if your tough or crazy but very nice buck none the less

I have a pretty good idea of how cold that water was, my buddy shot a buck during late muzzleloader last year, he one lung/liver shot it, it ended up going into the some of the back waters of a huge lake, we sat on the bank looking at the deer trying to get up on the ice as only part of the water was covered for nearly an hour and a half, I am pretty sure the only thing that kept it alive was the cold water because the water surrounding the deer was completely red. So we waited for him to expire because you cannot shoot over open water, it was getting close to dark and there was supposed to be a big snow storm moving in that night. My buddy and I stripped down to our skibbies in 15 degree weather, thank god it was not windy, and walked/swam out to the buck who was about 50 yards off shore, at times sinking half way to our knees in the muck. I can tell you one thing, it was definately an eye opener and once we got out of the water, the mud on the embankment sure felt warm.

Idk what the legality of shooting a bowfishing arrow into a floating deer like that would be, but had I had my bowfishing setup at the time, I probably would have been calling up the DNR and seeing what his thoughts on it were.

George Costanza: "It was cold!"

Nice job, TH. You've got my respect on that one for sure!

Dedgeez: AWESOME!!

TH , i think you have become a iwtails hero! congrats. where will you be signing autographs next, i want one. ps time to change your user name to someyhing like "nails' or "rockcrusher"

I think I see three adams apples in that pic.

I've done some crazy a$$ed things in my life but sometimes you have to weight the risk to reward. I think the risk in this case was well worth the reward.

PS: I'm gonna put your pic on my ceiling.

Nice, and a dang nice dead head too! I did a similiar thing when I was probalby 16/17 years old. My buddy shot a duck and it made it out into a pond pretty far. I decided to strip down to my underwear to swim out and get it. That was the first and last time I will swim in water when it is around freezing outside.
