Crp 2026 Sign up

I talked with Mercer County Missouri FSA today. They quoted me $136 an acre for new CRP ? I said are you sure? This is 85 CSR bottom ground. She said same rate for everything ?

Doesn’t sound accurate ?

Soil rental rates for CRP is based on the rate for the three most prominent soil types for the acreage being bid into the contract. Up to the maximum on a per county basis. Missouri does not have or utilize CSR to the extent Iowa does. But the SRR is based off soil types up to an established maximum.

I had to make a few changes to get 10% eligible for food plots. Wasn’t bad tho. Had to enroll in a new Pheasant Recovery program. Required 25% of my crp acres to be in pure switch. No big deal. Other option to reenroll was planting 25% more forbs on all my crp acres. Still got rid of an acre of crp that I really needed to be free of government but overall the current signup seems a little better than the one from the fall.

I know that is why I think she’s off. She should have quoted me the rate for that soil type . There’s only one soil type in this field .

Forgive the random ask- but I will be able to sign up next year for the first time- are there any good resources out there on what I may or may not want to do? This is a deer-centric property where the income would be nice but I'm not chasing money to any detriment of deer (cover).

I would pick a program that allows for a seeding that meets your goals. Personally, id go CP-25 30-10 or CP25 20-20 tall grass. Others similar with tweak, CP38, CP2.

I agree with those. Personally I liked the cp384d which is a quail habitat.

What I like about the 384d is
1- like most it allows cp12 (10% food plots)
2- it also allows a tree and shub planting up to 2 acres. It does not sound like a lot but when stretched into hedge (like 2 or 3 rows) goes a long ways laterally. Couple that with fire breaks, it add soo much cover and a ton of more edge.

That equates to about 4,000' laterally. About 3/4 of a mile. Split that up 4 or 5 times and so much more habitat.

Received a letter today of the crp I had expiring this year. I guess I knew I had some expiring, but the letter got my attention when it said - will accept re-enrollment until March 20th, or until acres are still available, and enrollment opened 12 days ago!,,,,Today I'm on their list to send me a contract for signature....

The current cp25 program I’m in expires this fall and I was hoping to get into a 10% plot program. They said the only program that allowed that wasn’t in my area. Is my only option to pull some acreage out to add some plots or anyone aware of anything else? The guy said that was my only option but just doesn’t seem right

Rates have definitely changed. In one county in Minnesota, the rate was close to $250 before and now it’s $183. They won’t entice a lot of interest, as cash rents are $200-275 ?

I was just told by my local office that the application that I just submitted won't be looked at and hopefully approved by late summer. So, the acres we are enrolling now won't be converted back into habitat until next spring?

Three dollar corn, high inputs, interest rates working up. Toss more acres on top of that coming out of CRP shit about o hit the fan
$3 corn? Do you have a graduate degree in farmer crying?? ;) rounding down to the nearest dollar?? PHD level crying. I teach my kids the same math! Well done!!

When my son asks for 50 dollars, I say 30 dollars!!!?? What on earth do you need 20 dollars for!!$$$

In Kansas it wasn't that easy to re enroll in fact my wetland was the only thing they would let me do without tearing out, farming then starting over. The wetland they said would be inspected for forbs every 2 years and if not enough I would have to re seed.OK it's a wetland if it floods it kills the forbs. If the NWSG gets 2 thick it kills the forbs. It was going to cost me 100.00 more every 2 years to reseed forbs than what they were paying me every 2 years.I just left it and canceled the renewal they had started,oh by the way to cancel after 3 days was I believe 113.00.

Yeah, it's crazy math. Sign up, don't receive a payment, but cancel and have to pay.... But, consider yourself lucky, I've had to pay a lot more than that when I changed my mind about crp....

My re-enrollment last week was at the same rate luckily.
