Cuddieback problem?

I have an older model cuddie that works fine other than the flash. Non-Ty Inc. wants 200 to refurbish or 175 and camera trade for a new one. I like the older model for the purpose of tree mounting and dont think 200 is fair for just a flash, any advice?
 
Buy another camera.

The flash on my Moultrie D40 burnt out and Moultrie said it would cost more to fix it than buying a new one. Not sure what I'm going to do with this cam (and another homebrew I have that is having problems). I hate to throw them away, but I'm not going to use them in their current state.

I bought a ScoutGuard SG550 yesterday. That would be my suggestion on how to spend $200 instead of getting your current Cuddie fixed.
 
Is it a 1.3 (c1000) or a 3.0 (c3000)

Im in the same boat. They told me same thing. My pics are real dark.

They also told me it could a shutter speed issue.
 
use the ones with no flash as daytime only cameras...if they have the switch to select that option that is
 
its cheaper to buy a new one, i had a cuddie, by the time you send it in you could buy a new one ,they charge to much for replcement parts- plus time waiting,frustrating i know
 
The words "CUDDEBACK" and "PROBLEM" go together all the time!!! I have owned many and have problems with the camera more often than I have them working well.

QUESTION- I need some advice (don't mean to highjack). I have two IR Cuddebacks (both are newer) set up, one of them constantly has white pictures. Basically, it seems like the IR flash is going off when it's not needed OR maybe it's too bright or something, not sure. Any thoughts???

Sounds like overexposure. If you call CB they'll probly tell you to check your version of firmware and upgrade if yours isn't the newest available. If it's an apperature speed issue, that COULD cure it. Other things you could try in desperation would be to create a light dam on the outside of the cam, inside, or both that better shield light from the flash from reaching the lens. If the culprit is flash bleed, that could help. After all other options have been exhausted I've been forced to move some IR Moultries to areas that recieve a lot of natural light to satisfy the light sensor. Still typically end up with problems at twilight though which is prime deer movement time. Is yours in a well shaded area right now?
 
No, mine is on a field edge. I've tried many locations, it's bad no matter what. $400 and I am about to just smash the thing (it's the newest one). Not a big Cuddeback fan if you haven't guessed. thanks much!
 
i cant see spending $400.00 on a camera, are you looking for Really sharp pics, or good quality pics showing you what you have cruising thru your area?I use the Wildview extream 2, seem to work great for all i need . i have 6 of them and have never had one go bad except for the battery life.My dad just ordered a double pk before x-mas from cabellas for like 120.00, 4 megapixels. Im figuring, i can take the other 300.00 and invest in clothes, supplies ect, before spending 400.00 on one camera, not to mention if it gets stolen, id rather be out 100.00, than 400.00. the quality is fine and their user friendly, with numerous settings .
 
I love the speed of the cuddie though. any suggestions on a fast cam if i decide to buy a new one? I have another cam that is a cheep moultree, terible speed, lots of missed deer. Overall it has been worth the money but still would prefer a faster cam for those tight spots. Thanks to all that are helping and dont worry about the highjack, untill its a deer anyways! LOL
 
Bowhunter82- I have 2 of the most expensive and newest cuddeback's out there. I am telling you- don't get one. I know folks read reviews and there's always a few unhappy people BUT for this instance- I would steer clear. I have so many buddies that have other cameras that are super happy. One buddy has a nicer Moultree that loves it and another has an expensive reconyx that loves it. I'll let others chime in on what's good BUT i'm telling you- my suggestion is to stay away from Cuddebacks, there's just too many other good cameras out there to take a chance on the high priced cuddeback's which have given me nothing but headaches.

Oh, anyone want to buy my Cuddebacks?!!?!?!? /forum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif
