Current harvest totals

Dang Clayton county has killed more deer over all the other countys. Only need 30 or so more turkeys to be # 1 spring time too. Do any of yall hunt Clayton

My guess would be Warren ?? Or maybe one of the far SE counties like Lee or Des Moines ??

I bow hunt Clayton Cty. Rolling hills. When I say hills they seem like mountains climbing up with a climber and a back pack.

Interesting to see some of the counties as low on the list as they are. Obviously, the reason some are lower is not due to the fact of less deer, but instead because of less opportunities to hunt.

What I like is in some countys the total harvest isn't even as much the anterless quota for that county.

Like one I hunt (muscatine) but I see no reason to cut back.

I think I read somewhere that Grundy county has some of the best farmground in the world. With corn so high, I bet it's hard to find a patch of cover big enough to hide a deer.

I noticed this also. I fully understand that they don't expect all of the tags to be sold let alone filled, but when a county (Clayton) sells 5800 doe tags and the totol harvest is 4400 (for any deer) I think it may be time to start taking a hard look at tag availability and quotas. Maybe it's just me though! We haven't even sold 1/2 of the available antlerless tags statewide. Wonder what source Branstad will recruit next to find his revenue, if Iowa residents are buying the tags? Hmmm
