Cutting Knifes

Anyone have any suggestions for a whole set of knifes for cutting up deer! I am looking to get some, and didn't know what everyone was using! I am not going to say at all what I think I would like to have, because IW member opinions have swayed my previous beliefs on a lot of stuff.

SO please any suggestions on Knifes. Where to get them as well!

Also, i am looking for a set, not just one knife!

In advance thanks!

wow doubleA a whole post and you only set yourself up for one burn....are you feeling ok??

by the way that burn would happen to be that our IW opinions swayed your belief on what animal you trapped

sorry doubleA but it will never die as long as im here

I have the Outdoor Edge processing kit.
The knifes are alright, but not really made with the highest quality steel.
Sharpening them has become a pain and I will some times get a chip in the blade.
I would still purchase the "Steel Stick", it makes getting everything out of the rib cage a breeze!

A buddy of mine has the Kershaw Alaskan Blade Trader.
The concept is nice, but function has diminished as the lock in capability has broken. It has a life time warranty though and he still needs to send it in.
The steel quality is alright, but not the best.

IMO - Buck and Gerber make great blades but you pay for em.
Might want to think about getting your knifes separate, than as a set.

I would love to have a whole set, but i only use a fillet knife to process the whole thing...

easy to sharpen and holds an edge longer......

thats jus me tho

I would agree with this for processing. I do use a Grohman knife for skinning and quartering and a Marbles sheath knife for filed dressing but the fillet knife has served me well processing many deer.

Gutting - nice short bladed knife, I like gerbers, bucks, and schrades
processing - fillet knife, the $9 rapalas at wally world are my favorite
bones - gerber folding saw
