My dad and step-mom, Jan, have been seeing some pretty good action over the first two days of the season. They managed to double up on a pair of longbeards opening morning despite the windy conditions. Jan downed her bird just before 6:30 at seven yards and Dad nailed his about seven minutes later around 15 yards out. Dad's weighed over 24 pounds, had 1-1/4" spurs and a 10" beard. Jan's went 23 pounds with a 10-1/2" beard and 3/4" spurs. Not too shabby!
The next morning they were at it again in a different location. It didn't take long and they had a bird committed to the decoys. Jan put this 23-pounder down for the count at 12 yards.
Hopefully one of these days my wife and I will find time to make it out!
