Daughter's first deer

My daughter got her first deer Sunday night and she was excited. This was our 3 sit and finally got all the stars to align. We had seen the other sits but they were either past LST or they were to far way.

We got settled in and didn't see any deer until about 6:45. Prior to that we had our dinner of lunchables and a couple of peaches... dinner of champions! We had 4 does come out at about 200yrds away but they always go to one corner of the field to cross into the neighbors beans and cornfield so I felt like we had a chance tonight. About as quick as we saw them, they disappeared. I don't know what happened. Around 7 either they were back or another 4 does were working their way to us, but the path they were on they had to cross downwind of us to get into our shooting window. We use a caldwell fieldpod and I didn't want to chance trying to move it and making any noise.

The first deer came to less that 5 yards from the blind, I really thought it was going to climb in with us. I couldn't believe it honestly. It worked to the shooting window but it was to close I think. My daughter said she couldn't see it in the scope. The next 2 deer did the exact same thing. Finally the 4th one went about 20 yards from the blind and stopped perfect and she let it rip. I could tell right away she made a good hit but we got out and went and found the blood where it was standing. Followed blood for about 30 yards and there it was. She was excited to say the least. She made a perfect heart shot. We hustled back to the truck and she was jabbering like a magpie on the walk. She said she liked deer hunting but not the waiting. Also she was happy for the meat for the freezer because she wasn't a vegetarian.

We got it gutted which she wasn't super wild about and rushed home to show mom and then she went to bed. Then of course I got it all de-boned and in the fridge.

Here is a picture of the "Heart Breaker", 2 days prior to her 9th birthday.

Congrats! I can tell by reading your post how proud you sound when telling the story! Hunt you will never forget! Awesome

Kids are great. Proud moments thats for sure, and your correct, she is gonna be a heart breaker. But it looks like she can handle herself pretty well to me.
