Dealing with high winds

Just wondering what everyone does when it's get's this windy out?
Don't hunt, Sit on the ground, Hang stands in bigger trees, ect.
I'm going to try to sit on the ground tomorrow morning just cause I don't like swaying back and forth in a tree. Not a big fan of sitting on the ground but I'm going to a public area so if I mess it up not hurting anything.

I was thinking of just sticking with the orginal game plan of stand hunting tomorrow. NWS says 11-17 mph with gusts above 20. I'm thinking that's doable although a solid tree would be a fine idea.

If the ground has switchgrass on it , thats where they will b! Slow stalk it on foot, it is a very productive way to kill Giant whitetails on public ground..Much easier with a recurve or longbow but the compound gets it done also...They have NO clue whats going on when its that windy

Generally my stands go in big oaks or maples and I dont go real high. But I sat in 20mph wind the other night clipping across a swamp and then onto the ridge I was on. The stand was secure but really high and not in that big of an oak. I was moving and I was nervous, dont know if I could have shot or not.

I agree with bowhuntr 311, we, as bowhunters , hunt in alot of crazy elements, sit in our trees when things are calm, (but) when the wind is howling and your up in a tree 15-20 ft, & that tree is swaying, sure gives you a funny feeling after 30 minutes or so, come dark, your almost thankful to be at ground level in one piece! But thats why we do what we do.were bow hunters. After swaying in a tree for 5 hours tonight, i came home, my 9 yr old son said ,you dont look so good Dad, i told him to tilt his head back, touch his nose and spin around in the living room as fast as he could for 15 seconds, he did, and stopped , swaying around the floor. i said thats the same feeling ive had for the last 5 hours!with nothing to show for it i might add, the sad part about all this is, im getting up at 430 am to do it all again!

My only advice is to pick a stout tree and tough it out, I hate hunting in high winds, but the deer are out there.

Not a bad time to do a stalk in standing corn if you have any on the property you hunt.

I hunted last night in the wind -about 20 MPH. My tree was pretty stout, but was swaying.

Texted my hubby that I was having fun "riding out the tree" - Horse humor!

BUT - I did have my harness on AND saw 1 huge deer Chasing a doe and another shooter - THEY ARE OUT THERE and Moving!!! Wind doesn't stop the rut so - if I get the chance, I'll be out there again!

Yes they will b.. The reason Public land deer suck into switchgrass is cause they don't wanna b bothered or seen.. Think about when you bird hunt early... It's not hard to see alot of bucks busting out of a switch end.... Deer want comfort more than anything... This wknd should b great for pinpointing deer in grass...

Iam going with T250 on this one i was out hunting chinese chickens earlier on some public ground and with the wind blowin hard i figured i wouldnt see much anyways but right in the middle of some switchgrass not 5 yards away from me a little 8 pointer jumped up and ran to about 20 yards and stood broadside..it didnt even know what i was wish i had my recurve because i took 2 more steps and busted up a doe and she did the same thing..so i know where iam guna be with my recurve tomarrow..
