Deck stain recommendations

Finished a 16x16 cedar deck today. I'll build them but staining them is on them.
They asked what I'd recommend for a clear coat type to keep the natural look. I really don't know?
Something that will keep it from fading yet enhance the beauty of cedar.


Any advice from this crowd?

Good luck. Grew up with cedar decks and built a large one on my current house. I honestly prefer to just let them go and power washer and wood brightner every couple years. Better than reapplying stain biyearly.

That's a deck coating for old decks to "refresh" aka hide them.

I’ve used on new decks as well. Depends the look you want. I used it as a thick protective coating to not power wash every other month. I didn’t care about the wood grain appearance. Still had to power wash now and again but not as often. Did wait a year to let the wood dry out though.

I live in a log home and use Q8 Log Oil from Western Log Home Supply. Works for decks as well. It's good stuff and goes on easy.
