Decoy use questions

Last year was the first year that I used a decoy and I loved it. I was using a doe decoy during Nov. 7-12 and scored on a nice 140inch 10 pointer. I was wondering if any of you are decoy veterans and have some advice. When and where do you think decoying works best? When do you use a buck or doe decoy. I'm planning on using a decoy this year some and any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I use a buck decoy this time of year until about the 1st of november i put it about 20yrds out facing the direction that i think the buck will come . he will either come right up on him or try to circle him either way i should have a shot. when i use a doe i face her the opposite direction that i think the buck is coming in an open area . i also take a napkin and tape to the underneath of the tail where it floats with the wind and put my favorite doe in heat sent on it. good luck
