Deer love hazelnut

I am at a stage where thinking about taking cages off of certain items.
This hazelnut was plated 6 years ago and for a test I took 2 cages off this spring.
I can't get anything growing without protection but would like to take them off at some point.

Seen the Same thing!!!! Mine exist in old tree tops that fell. Or where there’s old thick brushy fence lines & deer can’t destroy them.
Those look great!! Deer thought same thing!!

I’ve got a hazelnut in the farm yard that the deer made into a “mushroom top”. The ones I planted out in a fence row didn’t make it because I didn’t cage them.
