Differences in areas

it's amazing how areas/ states can be so much different.

supposed to be kinda cold and windy tomorrow here and the ground should be frozen enuff to drive across fields to get to some spots to shed hunt.

called a couple landowners to get permission. " have at it".
One spot is about 2 miles of PRIME riverbottom that has had about 150 deer wintering.
another landowner has about 3 miles that has had about the same #s.

Still abit too much snow in the woods to effectively search but only so much time to do it.

gonna give it a good day tomorrow walking. We are real prone to spring floods here so gotta do it when I can.
Nobody has asked for permission (and really never do).

remote stuff with very limited acsess to get to.
I coyote hunt/ monitor these areas all winter and There has been no one back in there.

if I was younger and had the "drive" like I used to, I could ĺine up enough land with just a phone call to keep me walking for days but I'm getting old now and just gonna keep things local.

watching YouTube videos, it's seems like shed hunting is a super competitive pastime in some states/ areas.

Has not hit this part of the world (yet).

Not expecting a banner day due to the snow but gonna be fun to put on some miles.

I don’t think any decent whitetail farm landowner in my area of Minnesota or Iowa would let you shed hunt. It’s definitely different by geography!

Maybe a farmer that doesn’t hunt, or a random by chance.

Good luck, with that many deer wintering there and if no ones been there you should have a great day.

Shed hunting down here is crazy anymore. Everything gets hit. It used to be a lot more fun that it is now. I'm hoping its just a short term fad for a lot of people. Going out and finding bootprints isnt a lot of fun. With as many people going out now I can't imagine to many people find a lot anymore unless they have multiple large permission pieces.

Its been getting worse every year for the last 15years and I don't think it will get better anytime soon. As long as there is monetary value in antlers it will continue.

Someone has to find a pretty significant amount of antlers to make decent money. 20-30 sheds is pretty decent amount to find a winter, but thats not worth much money. I think its more just being plastered all over social media & youtube just gets more people out trying it.

Total bust today. Spent 5 hours walking and didn't find one.

Way more snow then I anticipated and the Deracio that we had last summer had the woods looking really messy.
Will have to wait till the snow melts and try again.
Was fun to get out though.

Or 1 good one!

Possible. Not to be a debby downer, but someones going to have to spend a lot of time and miles to find a shed that is worth a decent amount. You can make a lot more money working at mcdonalds for a couple months in the winter than going shed hunting.
