I must confess it is my weakness as a hunter and more importantly a person. My wife hates it so hunting is one of the times I'm able to sneak one. I know at times it'll burn me but I don't have one unless I'm really serious about my setup, alot of times I'm not, it's just an outing.

Alright I had to look it up!
The LD (leathal dose) of nicotine is 40 to 60 mg for humans. One cigarette has up to 11 mg of nicotine. A cigar has up to 444mg. So Eating one might not get you but dont try to eat 4 or more

I chewed for 20 years.....not a day goes by I do not miss it. I have been around you rednecks and the urge is a tough one to beat but I do. I have given up alot of my vices and this by far was the toughest. Throw in a strong history of cancer and 2 little rugrats that I do not want to grow up without a father.....not preaching here. Have a dip and enjoy the woods.

Fred, I used to slip down to Montana every now and then for cheap booze. I've tried Marlboro's, don't care for them as much as our cigs!

It's all about the chaw. Red Man Golden Blend or Levi Garrett tucked deep down along the bottom jaw.

I have to chew when I hunt. I sighted my bow in with a chew in my cheek and it affects my anchor point. Wihtout a fat plug in I shoot too far to the right.

Had a dip in for every bowkill. They put those screw on caps on mountain dew bottles for a reason so spent chew doesn't get all over your huntin stuff.
On another note, not a better morning to be had than lean up against a big tree, slide in a fresh dip of Cope and break out a Cody slate call and wait for the first gobble of the morn. That's as good as it gets.

man, sounds like i'm one of the odd men out. have never touched any type of tobacco product in my life... and i plan on keeping it that way.

Man, AGS, you couldn't be more dead on right about that.
The capper is hiking out of the timber back up to the cabin and firing up the coals for steak and eggs cooked over the pit. Toss down a cold beer and then sit in the front yard with another chew before going back out.
 
The easiest way for me to leave my stand is forgetting my cope in the truck. It seems that when ever I put in a fresh chew I see deer. Coincidence........I think not.

Simplify fellas!!!! Gut it! I'm sure my swallowing that s*#% for the past 18 years will someday cause my death, but I can say I have never worried about where to spit.....just don't!
 
well, i myself do a little dippin' also, about 2 cans of copehagen LC a day! yes, it drains the wallet a lot! but i'll clear this whole "dippin' in the treestand" thing up!!!

i have proof that spitting while in the woods has no effect on the deer. i have filmed several of my BIL's hunts in the past few years, both of us dip, neither of us are swallowers, so therefore we spit right out of our treestands, and when we are finished the spent dip goes out on the ground.

well on 3 of these hunts that i have filmed, i have video footage of a 133 inch 9 point(now on my BIL's wall) biting at a spent dip of that good ol' copenhagen LC right off the ground. i have a small 6 pointer doing the same thing along with a doe doing the same thing. if i was able to put the footage on here, i would, but i don't think i'm able too!

i have had many deer downwind of me with fresh "snuff spit" on the ground and treestand, and never pay the first bit of attention other than maybe a quick scent check, but never got busted. now i personally don't think this would happen if deer were seeing a lot of pressure. the deer i have on film biting at it, was all in early bowseason except for the doe, which was during the rut.

@ cans of cope. Holy crap, The nicotine is 16 times greater than one cigg. so there for in comparioson to dip/cigg. With about 6-8 dips per can would equal smoking 6 packs of marlboros+... Thats alot of nicotine Splitty. I'm thinking of starting chew some poormans snuff like timberwolf??? Freakin skoal/cope is 7.75 a can and its busting me.
 
Alaskan that wolf is good stuff. Hey split isn't it a little unfair to shoot a buck while he is on his first nicotine buzz.

Splitter, you should start throwing all your used dips on the ground, maybe they'll get hooked on it and come running when you open your can. Maybe a "nic fit" will bring one down!
