Distance

My last pin is set at 55 yards right now with a great deal of practice still occuring at 60+. Under perfect conditions I will let the arrow fly at 55 yards. We all know that those kinds of conditions rarely present themselves. Most of the setups I hunt rarely offer a shot over 40.

I shot a buck in Missouri on September 16th this year (season opens the 15). I shot the deer at 43 yards. I had a range finder and new the exact distance. This point is that I used my 40 pin and the deer jumped the string sending my arrow barely through the top of the lungs ( this is all on video for reference). So, 40 to 45 yds for me and my Outback. Otherwise, they can turn a good shot into a bad one or a miss!

I took one tonight on a doe at over forty..(rangefinder said consderably more and I shot it for much more)...double lung shot and she had no idea what happened. Had to intercept before she got downwind of me.....she made it only 20 yards and piled up....yet at that distance, I still had a complete pass thru with a JakHammer

I shot my first deer with a bow at 40 yards...I was practicing up to 30 yards but it was a nice 8 point and i was really excited...anyway I held the bow higher to where the 40 yard pin should be and let fly...got him in the liver...probably ran a 1/4 mile or so...open field so was eash to find...

looking back I probably shouldn't have taken that shot not practicing for that range, but you never know what you are going to do for sure until the situation presents itself.

I'd like to say i wouldn't do that again, but if the right buck came by and things looked good I don't know, probably would.
