Do you let it lay?

I usually just pick them up.. got a salvage tag for one that was near a highway once.. the CO didnt have a problem with me taking it but just made sure i also took and disposed of the dead rotting carcass.
 
My neighbor tried for 4 months to get a salvage tag for a buck he found in march. The CO said he would swing by and give him a tag and never did.

I will say im not going to say what I do with the ones I find. I had a DNR officer try and bust me for shooting 2 turkeys in a year I only bought 1 tag. He found a picture of me with 2 birds on facebook. And the picture was from 2 years before that. Im not a fan of the DNR that I have been around. Was also checked by the same DNR officer in 2 hours during the early goose season when I lived in Iowa City. I had not moved either. He made me walk 200 yards back to the road so he could check me.
 
I've never called for a tag. I figure they have better things to do than conduct some kind of forensic autopsy on a deer that has been rotting for months. If I ever find a 250 incher I may call to cover my rear, but then again, they will probably want to keep those big ones for themselves.

It is against the law to have more than 25lbs of deer meat in posession after sept 1st from the prior year.

Been there. Same deal. As for the people that have never broken the law(speeding and such) I feel sorry for you! Your life must be boring as hell!
 
That's why I don't trust the DNR (aka:Gary Sisco)! There's bigger fish to fry, don't blame me for your misfortunes!

yes, gary would be the reason i wouldnt call the DNR , i heard he will take the head and it will never be seen again! thats what i heard any way??

I have found Gary to be a hard working, good guy. He will get ya if you break the law, but at least he will act on any reports or problems you may bring to him. He will give salvage tags on heads if it looks kosher.

If he has it out for you, he must have a good reason.

He had a great reason all right. It was so great he didn't even show up for court!
 
i have never had a problem with gary or stacy sisco, but i have heard from around the area that he will take the heads??
