Threebeards
I bought one of the last three doe licenses for Story County yesterday and saw today that they're all gone. I was curious so I pasted the numbers into a spreadsheet and came up with the following:
Of the original 103,000 licenses available, 35,995 have been sold (as of 10:30 a.m.) The following 29 counties have sold out completely:
BLACK HAWK
BOONE
BREMER
BUENA VISTA
CERRO GORDO
CHEROKEE
CLAY
CRAWFORD
DICKINSON
EMMET
HAMILTON
HANCOCK
HARDIN
HUMBOLDT
IDA
LYON
MARSHALL
OBRIEN
OSCEOLA
PALO ALTO
PLYMOUTH
SAC
SIOUX
STORY
TAMA
WEBSTER
WINNEBAGO
WORTH
WRIGHT
and 9 counties have less than 100 left
GRUNDY 11
CARROLL 15
POCAHONTAS 25
CALHOUN 27
GREENE 31
KOSSUTH 32
BUCHANAN 75
WOODBURY 78
SHELBY 89
There are 15 more counties with less than 500 left.
By the same token, 19 counties have more than 1,000 left and 11 counties have more than 2,000 left.
With the early antlerless season about a month away, those in the first two groups won't have to worry about it messing up the first shotgun season. (The early season, Nov. 25-27, is only open in counties with unsold/unfilled quotas).
With the count here pushing 100 does already, IW members are doing their part, but we can't slack off. We need to take as many does as possible if we don't want yet another backlash from the legislature and insurance companies and possible expansion of the rifle season.
Consider getting a group together for a bonus late season doe hunt or get a group of family and friends and go out for a Thanksgiving weekend doe hunt instead of watching another football game. There's probably a HUSH locker close by that will take the meat off your hands. Listing of HUSH lockers
