Does it really work?

I have been wondering if the scent sprays really work. Like the ones you can get from walmart and stuff like that. Or does it not even matter. I have heard of people that will up some dirty clothes up in there stand and change them every week or so just so the deer will get used to the smell or just walking through beef poop, or just rubbing your clothes on the cattle...I have used the scent block in the past but I haven't ever really had a differnce. Last year I harvested a nice buck with my bow and I didn't have any cover sent on but I also had the wind in my favor.

You need to take all the precautions you can to eliminate or at least reduce human oder. With that said I think hunting the wind is the single most important.

I am a firm believer in the scent eliminator sprays... I have only used the Hunter Specialties brand with great success.... I have also heard that some of the sprays are not so good. I have repeatedly seen deer cut my tracks in the woods and not detect my scent.

I always religiously hunt the wind as Ironwood said.... I don't believe they keep you from emitting scent, but instead do a good job of neutralizing scent by touch. I do not use any scentlok suits, etc. But I religiously keep my clothes scent free and stored in air tight containers. After dressing outside and AWAY from my truck (to avoid exhaust fumes)... I lightly spray down from my chest height down plus soak my boots top to bottom....

I'm new here and my word won't have much stock... but in a word, yes they work. Nothing will completely eliminate human scent but most of the sprays available will help reduce your scent.

100% elimination of human scent is 100% impossible, Not matter what clothes you have or what sprays or covers you use, you won' t get rid of human odor. You can hovever decrease it considerably. Now as for the talk about cattle, (walking through manure, hanging clothes in barn.) That may work fine if your hunting near alot of cattle or in a cattle pasture. but the deer will probably think somethings up if you smell like a Angus in the middle of a apple orchard. You could try the dirty clothes in the treestand thing, but I am nor recommending that.
