Dollars for strippers, sometimes called stripers, didn't work. Neither did anything else. So we caught a bunch of white bass. I guess they call them sandys down there. We caught about 60 or 70 fish and kept around 40 of them. Most were 1 to 2 pounds. Not what we were after but I guess you have to take what the lake will give up.
That was Wednesday. Friday night we went bowfishing. What a blast. My brother has a friend with a boat all rigged out just for that. It's a 21 ft semi-v and wide, maybe 8 ft. The front half has a deck built on it with 12 halogen lights run by a 6000 watt generator.
At 11:00 pm we started slingin' arrows but it took awhile to get the hang of where to aim. By 12:00 brother sticks a gar and not long after I got my 1st.

I shot a few more of them slimy things then got a bit more picky. We had about a mile of dam to run and thats when we found the carp, which look more like our buffalo. We were punchin' scales almost as fast as we could get the arrow back on. Most of the fish were 8 or 10lbs but I managed to land a couple around 20. I probably shot 30 fish and Todd (brother) shot 15. Those guys said most nights they won't even shoot the fish we shot cause they're too small. With all the rain they've had the water clarity wasn't the best so it was hard to see down where the bigger ones usually lay. The guy that owns the boat has the Texas bow record for catfish and could have had the grass carp but he didn't get it sent in time, or something like that. state records But we had a blast and I think I found a new hobby. I wish I could have taken more pics but those gar were pretty slimy and sticky and I didn't want to get all that crap on the camera.
The real story of the trip happens the next day. It has nothing to do with hunting or fishing but it does involve guns. You can read about that in the PMA section.
