Doves are hard enough to hit with a shotgun, but I am on a mission to shoot some on the fly with a longbow.

Headed out yesterday evening and set up the decoys in what I thought would be a good area between two corn fields. Unfortunately, I was about 200 yards off from where they were flying. I did have one come into the decoys but missed.

All in all it was a nice evening sit. I even had some future T-bones keep me company.

I'm heading back out in a little bit to try again. A friend is tagging along and we'll try to video the event. This is too much fun.

but if you really want to go after doves "the hard way" then you need to live on the other side of the river. WE have to go about it the hard way. we have to fight the legislature to even get a damn season. what is there, 9 states that don't have a season?

Had a small group come into the decoys and just at that moment when they seem to pause in midair before landing, I let one have it.
Glad I got this quest out of my system.

I just love your pictures Jay. That is quite a feat that I'm sure very few have ever even thought about let alone accomplished. Ever shoot roosters in the air with your bow? Congrats!

Very impressive with the Judo.

Love your set up. I'm working on a couple dozen tapered cedar shafts that I will post when I get them wrapped up.

It was something I just felt a needed to acomplish.
BUCK10, no head shot, infact, that's why he's laying chest down. The judo pretty much tore his chest off. Took a bit of planning for the photo not to show it.
Shoot2kill, yes, I've shot pheasants with a recurve before. It's been a number of years ago though. I plan on trying it again this season.
DOR, I thought about getting a couple of those snaros but I couldn't see how they would fit in my quiver.

May have to get one though for quail.

holy crap, congrats, jay. i can't believe you got one already. maybe ol' tred should hire you as a technical producer, and teach him to shoot. or he could just edit your shots into the show and he could take credit
