Down to the wire ...

Well, it's been a while since the last time I posted a message, but I wanted to share my success story from this spring as it was such a long time in the making. In all I hunted more than 20 days this spring with my bow, but it wasn't until last Saturday morning that it all came together. At approximately 06:15 I put an arrow in a 22 1/2 lb. gobbler with a 10-inch beard and 1 1/4-inch spurs. This was only my second bird by bow and to say the least, I was terribly excited. The last time was four years ago, so to rekindle the thrill was really something. Hopefully I'll be able to post a pic when I get them back. Lots of good stories on here from this spring ... good work everyone. In my 20+ days afield I witnessed more turkey action than ever before and really learned a lot. I was hunting w/o a blind, which made things interesting but I'm just too stubborn to get into one. I had multiple birds within range but many times simply couldn't get drawn back. More than once I just had to let them walk, but the thrill of having birds in close was almost as good as taking one home as it gets the ol' heart beating just as fast for me.
