Drone seeding 2 acres near oskaloosa?

Growing industry for sure & guessing it’s still super hard to find for hire. Bet it grows over time. Let me know if u do find anyone.
Here’s a ? For all you guys…. What would u guys pay per acre when it’s for plots? If it’s only a few acres- I’d pay pretty darn well as I know guy has to travel there & pain for small amount of area. What seems reasonable? Could be a “trip charge” or “minimum”.

What's the benefit of a drone for seeding? I would still need to to have the ground prepped and I'd still want to roll the seed in if possible. I can hand seed a couple acres in 30 minutes, that's not the time consuming part of the job.
Unless your talking over seeding a large standing bean field, I don't really see the benefit. What am I missing here?

I see parallels to hiring a blood trailing dog. Maybe the fee structure could be the same.

Was thinking of having the back end of corn field along woods (2 acres approx) overseeded with brassicas and see as a trial how it would grow in standing corn to leave after they combined it? Other option is do it myself with a modified leaf blower ????

I had a guy nearby quote me a price of $300 per hour. I had 13 acres and he said 2-3 hours. So I figured $900 to spray 13 acres. Plus, you have to pay for all the herbicide..Wasn't worth it to me.

Evenly spread in corn or bean fields - fast & efficient with no crop damage, no overlap or missing spots. Corn would clearly be later. No doubt that beans can be done by hand spreader. It’s just speed & and efficiency… if a guy had (5) five acre plots in some made up example- make fast work of that where by hand probably take a whole day. The clear use of drone seeding is for ag crops & large amount of acres. So- I wouldn’t really call it “critical” for a plotter but sure would be nice in a whole lotta scenarios.

If I were to do it, these are the things that I would use to determine fee:
1. My license. Yes, if you do it commercially you are supposed to have a drone operator license.
2. How much work do I have to do to prep. Are you near an airport that now I have to request permission fly in ( Basically file a flight plan). If I don't, will be less "hourly" cost.
3. Drone cost offset. (For delivery of seed, chemicals etc.) 15-20k depending on features required.
4. Mileage: 60 cents a mile from my home round trip.
5. Hourly rate: 75-125 an hour I'd guess because I know I'm a commodity and not much competition.
6. Minimum cost: $150-250 plus mileage.
7. Cancellation fee: $200
8. As with any business -- things can be negotiable

Hell..may do it for free if you are decent or charge you double if you think you are more important than the next guy.

Should clarify #3: Not having one pay for cost of drone per day. But is factored in to overall cost. Price per flight hour, plus my time to get there

I saw this in Davenport Iowa about a week ago. Tried to get a better picture, what surprised me was how big it was.

Its been fungicide spraying season in my area. The crop dusters both planes and a few helicopters have been busy. Right around the house I had been seeing a modified car trailer being pulled by a diesel pickup. Trailer had various hoppers and tanks, equipment I didn’t recognize, and it looked like the trailer had a second deck/roof built over it. Finally I figured out it was a drone rig. The second deck must have been where they ran them from.
