Drury's

With not having been an IA resident for very long, I've got a hunting license question.

Every year, including this year, I go to the Drury website to see what they've taken. And every year, individuals have multiple buck archery kills from Iowa. How is it that they are able to shoot multiple bucks with a bow?

Thanks

I think one of them claims Iowa residency and owns land, thus they can get two archery any-sex archery tags: one landowner, one regular state wide.

I think only one of the Drury's claims Iowa residency, so that one would be the only one able to get two archery licenses. An Iowa landowner can get three any-sex tags, but only two archery any-sex.

I do not follow the Drury's. I haven't been to their website nor have I bought any of their DVDs. I'm stating more about my understanding of the licensing in Iowa than their situation.

They are given "Media Tags" which means if they are involved in media, which they are, they qualify for an annual tag. if they show positive growth through their production they are awarded a tag the following year...
in short, they always get tags....im not sure how they get divided up amongst their pro and field staff positions.

hope that helps

Please tell me the media tag is the govenors tag and there are not two ways these clowns get tags every year that the average NR working man cannot get. That govenors tag is 100% BS if you ask me.

Yes, media tags = Governor's tags...

Which, by the way, was increased this year to 75 tags.....

Hardly anyone that whitetail hunts even knows there are deer in Iowa.....do they?

The increase in Iowa governor tag numbers will give Iowa
a much needed "publicity" shot in the arm. /forum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/crazy.gif

If you don't know me...the above statements are spoken in a totally sarcastic tone of voice. /forum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/grin.gif

Governors tags are a joke!!!

I would rather see these tags go to hard working NR hunters anyday!!!

I agree.

They should just call them celebrity tags, because they're the only people that end up getting them. It's a total crock b/c all those tags offer is a way around the RULES and REGULATIONS.

Mark Drury claims Grand River,Ia.as his home. How much time he spends there is probably during hunting season but with there business he can operate from there and pay state of Iowa income tax.

When I applied for Wyoming elk, I got things in the mail for fund raisers for groups who were granted tags. Local youth organizations were given an elk tag to raffle and keep proceeds for organization. I am sure there are 75 deserving charities or groups in Iowa that could raffle the licenses and would serve far more good than the current system. My $.02.

I dont think you state needs any publicity. When your NR lottery isnt full and there are left over tags then maybe they need help.

75 tags isnt all that bad compared to the political mess here in Illinois. Last year they did a audit here and found a "excessive" amount of tags given out. I heard it was over a thousand.........

the law actually states that regardless of where you pay taxes, you must PHYSICALLY be in the state for 30 days prior to buying a resident hunting license. load of crap , but that is the law

I thought maybe some of you would understand the tag situation a little better by reading this detailed list of the Governors tags. Below you will find who and why they were issued.

I totally agree.

I think the Drury's are great for hunting and I love their DVD's but just like any other hunter I think Mark should be able to get one anysex tag for bow and an anysex tag for one of the gun seasons just like the rest of us and Terry should have to apply for a nonresident tag just like all the rest of the out-of-staters. Done.

Mark Owns ground in Iowa therefore making him a land owner.
Therefore he gets three any sex tags like any other resident land owner. He does not get a govy tag. Terry gets a govy tag when he doesnt draw one in the lottery. I think the govy tags are a bunch or bs my self and they should have to play by the same rules as every one else.
