Early corn harvest?????

Hey guys ... I was just wondering if there has been any talk of a early corn harvest for this fall? I know it has been dry and up here in WI the big farmers have already chopped most of it off... I know they combine down there but was wondering if it is going to be ahead of schedule??????? Any thoughts?

The corn on one place we hunt is down already. Normally it gets taken down the first weekend of shotgun season while the leaser buddies block on the other side of the fence?

It'll make it easier to get to some of stands. Hopefully the deer won't go looking for another field?

i think alot of it depends what part of the state you are in and how big of a farm the farmer has. like we farm ground in eastern iowa, right now im in ames, which is north of desmoines. and alot of the farmers up here are already picking, back home on our farm not many farmers have started central iowa seems to be a couple of weeks ahead of eastern iowa. also if a farmer has thousands of acres they will already be combining to make sure they get it out before it starts snowing, they will have dryers and stuff to get their corn ready to sell. but the harvest seems to be right on schedule to me. goodluck this year, and hope it helps!!!

Here in Des Moines-Altoona area most of the big guys are done with beans and starting corn, where the more independent farmers are just getting started on their beans. Does anyone have any input on how deer react when the fields around your stands turn from corn to beans. This has happened to me this year, and I'm curious how they are going to react. Do they bed down in beans like the do in corn? Do they still run the draws through beans like they do in corn? Any inpt would be great. Thank you.

supertec, ive never really noticed a change from corn to beans or vice versa. as far as the rut goes, i never see a change, but as far as late muzzleloader goes, the beans just arent as good for holding lots of deer, they like the corn alot better. early season i would rather have it be beans, and during late muzzleloader i would rather have it be corn, so good luck this year!!!
