Early or Late???

I always late season. Reasons; Cold (hopefully), snow (hopefully), less crowded, crops are out ect. and I just enjoy hunting in the quiet and solitude you get sitting out on a December/January day.

late...
i love the colder weather and its a great way for a bowhunter to take out some agressions on after some frustrating out of range encounters....

My young-uns hunt early and I like the late season. After hunting with two boys during the youth season and the bow season and the early ML season, The late season is MY time to hunt without any restrictions. Plus the little dudes dont like the cold weather of Dec. Jan.

Early!

Catch the bucks while still in their summer patterns and before everybody has hammered at them for two months and caused them to go nocturnal (or relocate to the nearest inaccessible property). Also there will still be some crops to hunt over (beans might be out but there should be some corn standing).

My fiancé, well wife on Saturday, will be hopefully harvesting her first deer during first, and I have never Muzzleloaded, but am considering ditching shotgun and going late!!

I always hunt late. Just because of the same facts as all the others. The real question you got to ask yourself is do you have a better early or late season spot? If you have alot of ground you can hunt that you know bucks will be wintering in, then I would hunt late. If you don't have alot of ground that holds deer in the winter then I would hunt early. The deer during late season tend to whole up in certain areas and it is pointless to hunt the season if you don't have one of these spots. Early season is frustrating, alot of the big mature deer just don't move before dark or move much period, plus it is usually hot and the bugs are still out. goodluck

I've switched back and forth for years but I'm planning on late season this year. From talking to farmers it sounds like there will be ALOT of crops still in during early season and I picked up some ground that should be good late this year.
I just hope we dont get another year with a week of 60* weather and no snow, it's like the dead sea then.

Im planning on going late because last year we shotgun hunted this big section of timber. We hunted everything except 70 acers of cedars and rose bushes and during late bow i hunted a alfafa field that bordered that 70 acers and saw more big bucks in 5 days than i did the whole season. Unfortently i was already tagged out and just doe hunting....
