Hey All,

What is the earliest scrape you have seen.
A buddy and I were hanging stands late last week in a new piece of property we have permission to hunt this year and on the way in we found a handfull of old scrapes. Low and behold one had been freshened.

Now if I was by myself I wouldnt have believed it but all the signs were there. Lick branch freshly chewed, dirt/leaves FRESHLY moved. Dirt had a real slight smell of urine.
Is it possible they made this with velvet still on, or maybe an early bloomer?
There was only 1 scrape that we found like this in about 100 yards on that old road and there must have been 10 OLD scrapes?

Any answers, comments?

They will work scrapes year round....they are just not as evident or obvious as they are during the rut.

I know of a community scrape that gets used year around. Rereading this old post I see that I must have forgotten to include the licking branch picture that is above the scrape.

Question-- If you only got to mate for about 3 weeks out of the year, would you spend as much time as possible preparing for it?

Answer--- yes!
