ELK in Iowa????

My Dad and brother watched 4-5 mule deer all one summer, along the Little Sioux River. This was 6-7 years ago. Also happens to be where they seen a 5x6 elk this year!

Heaven is NORTHWEST IOWA!!!

So Im guessing the DNR does not want Elk to get established here. Hitting them with a car would be bad, but how else are they bad? Do they out compete whitetails? Or can they co-exist?

I think they are afraid of them bringing disease into the state (whether wild or elk farm escape).

Also, I really don't want a herd of elk in my corn field.
