Many people are likely already doing this but in case you haven't discovered it yet, photo enhancing is a great way to make major positive changes to your pics once you get them onto your computer. There's of couse a host of programs available for this purpose but if you don't have high end software for this purpose, you might consider a free download of the Picasa software made by Google. It can be found here:

Here's an example of what it can do with a subpar pic I just got off the cam today. I only made one click in the software to get the change you see and could probably get it even better if I messed with it long enough:
