EQUIP Funds Frozen

The other part of this that will affect future projects is it looks very likely that the federal work force is going to be considerably smaller during this Administration. I have family members and friends that work for the USDA in both FSA and NRCS. They have ended telework agreements and been told to return to the office or take a severance package. i think it will be a tough 4 years for cost share projects. i would also expect CRP to take some major hits as it did during the previous Trump Administration. I am glad to things being done to deal with out of control government spending.

But........ If you read the fine print, everything funded via the farmbill is subject to availability of funds. So anything can be turned off and you not get what you agreed too
That would cause a land price reset, many say would be healthy....I personally don't want to see it..

But agree, Gov spending is wayyyyy out of control.

I expect to see a lot of investigations in regards to all kinds of bribes, money under the table, payoffs, pay-to-play, general corruptness in the next 4 years... I don't think swamp begins to describe what goes on in Washington...

I agree a current contract is a contract and should be honored. BUT, we can't yell from the rooftops to cut government size and spending and then complain when it's "our" people and spending they cut (NRCS, EQUIP, CRP, farm subsidies, wildlife research, public land purchases, etc.) without being hypocrites. (I don't think anyone on here is yet, but I've heard it in person a couple times already.)

I'm for reduced government and I'll take my lumps if needed for the better long term good. And to make sure everyone knows I'm not talking hypothetically for myself. I currently have about an $80,000 brush control project waiting approval/funding. I won't be surprised if all of these funds are frozen before I get it approved.

On a related note, I don't like how many of the rules are being changed via executive orders. This is not a republican or democrat thing to me because I believe both parties have been overdoing this for several administrations. I want the checks and balances our government is designed to have to stay in place.

All these executive orders are nothing permanent, for it to have lasting impact they need to be laws. Much harder to overturn those than the E orders. The next pres who differs in opinion will just write one out get rid of what they don't like. It's like its turning into a half assed monarchy/dictator, with the next president using them more than the last. As you said 2 bucks, checks and balances need to stay in place. I like a lot of what Trump is doing but for it to last it needs to be law not EO's.

I've applied for EQIP funding to establish pollinator on 10 acres that has previously been hay ground. I got two sprayings in last year (spring and fall) to kill off the fescue so it is ready to plant. I originally applied to establish in NWSG but changed by mind and decided on a monarch mix seeding. I can broadcast the pollinator if approved by March 15th but after that it would need to be drilled. Can native pollinator mixes be successfully established by drilling later in the spring? I think most of the seed mix would need the winter cold for stratification. This is assuming it even gets approved at this point. Wondering if I need to get a plan B together for those fields this year.

You can definitely drill later in the spring, often you won't see much polinator growth year 1. This is often the case anyway since drilling is considered the norm. Tough to broadcast it without a proper carrier or a specialized spreader

Give it up. Jesus. Trump campaigned on this. Was the guys TV turned off for a year? I’ll take every dime Trump finds associated with fraud and abuse. Just because a program exists doesn’t mean it’s necessary.

Today it’s reported FEMA sent 59 million to NY to house illegal immigrants instead of used for US disaster relief. Millions sent to Hamas though USAid. 122 million identified so far, probably more. What a joke.

This exists in every department. After review I’m sure some programs will continue and some will be cut. Keep going DOGE. Effing decades overdue.

I've seen that in a couple places. Interesting that he never says Trump or even Elon. It's just the "government". Doubtful it would be put that way if this was happening on the other side? If in place contracts were actually being frozen by Biden a lot here would be going ape sh!t.

it's going to be a wild ride....

He froze spending govt wide. Gotta evaluate the hand he was dealt, which is complete shit, in order to make the proper cuts.

I removed myself from crp last year after 20 years. Best thing I ever did. When you hear I’m from the government and here to help, run.

I think we need to organize an intervention on your MSN habit.
I watch a lot of different news media, rarely MSN, to get an overall idea of what's what. I also hound my wife to stop watching it!
Just thought the farming industry isn't getting the assistance they need and may not hear all the news. Hope Musk gets the drift.
