Establish spring clover plots

Wi transplant

PMA Member
Alright guys I want to plant 3. 1 acre clover plots on my new farm . These will be going into combined bean fields from last yr do i frost seed into the bean thatch from last yr? ( pretty thick in some areas ) or wait antlers till early as possible and drill oats as a nurse crop and overseed with clover ? Like april?? Normally I would just frost seed but thick thatch from last yr bothers me some? Thoughts

Frost seed away then use the spring planting time to fill in any light areas. Almost the only way I establish clover plots now as its effective and pretty convenient.

I think going into bean stubble works good since there has been a history of weed management on that ground. Starting totally new plots with frost seeding even if you killed off existing growth earlier somehow gets to be a little bit more of a pain with weeds and stuff. It’ll work eventually, just a lot more mowing/spraying/etc. to keep the weeds out vs a fall seeding or spring with oats.
