Hey guys/gals...just got a bonus check from the Air National Guard and it's burning a hole in my pocket.

I want some new bowhunting camo for the fall and want to hear your thoughts on what's out there and what you all use.

How many of you really use scent lock? What kind of jackets do you guys wear? Do you have rain gear camo as well as normal gear? How bout light weight for early season vs. heavy weight for late season? What you don't like? What you do like?

Wicking base layers for early/late season?

Depends what time of year buying the camo. Usually camo shopin Feb/March because everything is on clearance by that time. Was able to get a RT ScentBlocker/Whitewater suit for half price. Since it's almost fall, you're going to pay way too much for camo unless your shopping at walmart. If you already have a good selection of camo, buy something that never goes on sale... like range finders
 
Use your Camo you got from the Air National Guard. Early season while leaves on the trees it works great. Cant beat free camo, that is what I use. Also take a peak at the predator camo line. I use that when there is no leaves. But double rack is very correct, what till someone comes out with a different camo and buy the stuff that is on sale.
 
I love the fall gray by predator. I think it is the best breakup out there. Not like mossyoak that makes you look like a black blob in a tree. I used the deception last year as well and I think it is just as good. I would get the fall grey from gray wolf woolens, especially if you need it done custom otherwise just get the northwoods stuff that is pre built.
Check out his intrusion pattern as well. On camo it actually looks awesome and way better than on the website. He can put scentlok in all the garments as well. i got the fall gray wolfskin with no lining in scentlok.
 
I use a base layer of X-Static, no matter what the weather. It is wicking and the silver fibers kill bacteria if you sweat. I have a Scentblocker suit, but these days I only use it because I love the camo – it is 3D leafy cut – and I wear it as a top layer. I don’t reactivate it anymore, because it has a slight chemical smell when I put it in the drier. For cooler weather, bibs work better than just pants and a jacket for keeping you warm - they keep your kidney area free from drafts and it makes all the difference. I borrowed a Heater Body Suit last Dec. and I LOVED it! It was great when it was in the single digits and below zero, but it was also great during temps in the 20's and 30's to be able to walk to my stand without sweating from wearing a bunch of layers and then freezing when I got there. I placed an order to Grey Wolf a month ago, getting it in my favorite Predator Fall Grey and for a light base I use wicking under armour type stuff. Also use the Cabela's windstopper pullover when it starts to get cold. Good luck, tough/fun decision ahead of ya!
 
For late season I got the Cabela's silent suede insulated pants in the outfitter brown pattern a couple of years ago. They are VERY warm as well as waterproof. Also very quiet. One thing I like about Cabela's pants is that they hem them to your actual inseam length. They also have huge cargo pockets which I like. I would recommend checking them out.
