Favorite grunt tube??

I need a new grunt tube I have had a True Talker for a couple years and was always happy with it just wondering what everybody else likes and what has worked the best for everyone!

I have the True Talker & the Primos Buck Roar, I like both of them.

I must admit I am still learning on the Buck Roar. I try using it only in certain situations.

True Talker...

The rubber over the reed seems to add a softer more realistic sound in my opinion. Not that Im any sort of expert but when I got my 2nd true talker, I opened every grunt tube they had and blew each of them. Grabbed the true talker and went to the counter.

Has anyone else had problems with mold in the true talkers? the wood piece that holds the reed is all moldy. Just wondering

No mold here, but my true talker is extremely hard to keep from freezing up if the temps are below 0.

My last True Talker, I had under my coat, pulled it out and grunted at a buck 200yards away across a swamp. I did alot of grunting. Like 3-5 min worth, he came down to 50 yards and after leaving it for just a min or two it had froze the reed down. Blew it soft, nothing, blew it hard and the reed broke loose and sounded terrible. Buck ran off...Bummer...

I spose that could happen to any grunt tube but I have my true talker freeze serveral times.

i have both a true talker and a primos buck roar (along with about a dozen other grunt calls ive accumulated over the years). i LOVE the primos call. i feel like i can make the greatest variety of sounds with it. grunting is probably my favorite type of call for that reason. i am always successfull with it although even though it may not seem like it... it can take some practice. my dad uses the same grunt and he has never grunted in a buck. whereas 80% of the bucks i see that i grunt at end up coming within bow range. the primos buck growl is by FAR my favorite call!!!

i really like the true talker, i get great variation with it and i grunted a buck in sat night. never had a freezing or mold problem. i like mine, i also use the m.a.d. growl, it is a good sounding grunt too. both have grunted in bucks for me.

Gotta go with the Buck roar. I like the noise it makes, you cant mess it up, never sticks, and having the snortwheez makes it unmatched.

Here is a quick idea a friend once told me to prevent freezing. Take a small bottle of your scent killer spray and mix in some HEET (the stuff you put in your gas tank in the winter to remove water) and spray it in your tube (just a couple sprays works). This will prevent any freezing problems. When you get home, blow the hairdryer in your tube for a couple of minutes to dry it out to prevent the mold some have problems with.

As a rule I always blow dry mine after each hunt I have used it on and my reed/wood piece looks brand new - no mold problems at all.
