Favorite Hunting Books/Authors

Yeah, I'm the only one in my office who made it to work today... the drawback of living 3 miles from the lab.

Anyway, what would your top 3-5 hunting book/author picks be? Looking mostly for informative whitetail books, but am open to other ones as well.
 
I've got Amazon up and searching and have the following checked for potential purchase.

Rub Line Secrets - Greg Miller
Hunting Whitetails by the Moon - Alsheimer
Treestand Strategies - Gene Wensel
Larry Benoit books

Anyone read any of them?
 
I really like gene wensel. The books that were wrote by him helped me alot in the early years.I also like greg miller to. all his books I like. Gene also told me that the book he signed for me went on ebay for about 300.00 dollars.I had out on loan but now its back.Great read.
 
Alsheimer's book was a great read. David Morris's book Hunting Trophy Whitetails is another good one. It's an older book,I refer to it as my "deer bible". I've read and re- read it so many times the paper cover protector is tattered and torn, I also like Mike Biggs series of books. Being a taxidermist, there are some great reference photos. In my opinion all books on deer are good reading

i have read a few others, but those two really stand out!! most of my reading is magazines.....

no one bothers you and it is just plain relaxing....

I've read mostly magazines also but I did pick up a book at the classic last year and have really enjoyed reading it. I would like to pick up Wensel's book also. If their books are half as good as seeing them talk, they should be pretty darn good to read.

I cherish my copy of Relentless pursuits. It is one of the best books out there and I am amazed that Tim Wells has never written another book. Heckuva writer.

A book that I read lately by Bobby Worthington called Hunting Trophy Whitetails was surprisingly good. Lots of interesting anecdotes and some good thought-provoking stuff.

I would have to agree with FireDog that Don Higgins book, "Hunting Trophy Whitetails in the Real World" is a really good read. A very down to the point type of book, with lots of good ideas and tips.

I also have enjoyed the Wensels books.

I totally agree...... but I would add "Bowhunting Trophy Whitetails" ... by Bobby Worthington. This guy knows whitetails.

Others I highly recommend would be "Hunting Pressured Whitetails" and " Precision Bowhunting " both by John & Chris Eberhart (father & son)... they primarily hunt public land and have harvested some nice bucks.

But the book I really WANT to read is "Bowhunting Iowa's Monster Whitetails" by Chris Lane.... the only problem is we need to convince him to write it first /forum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/grin.gif
