Fighting Bucks

A week ago I sat in my truck doing some scouting when I noticed 3 does coming out of the timber like they were being chased a little bit. A moment later a small 8 pointer seemed to be following a bugging one of the does. As I glassed to the south I saw two buck fighting. They were throwing each other to the ground pretty hard. I watched them for about 10 min. and thought maybe they were stuck but eventually they came apart. By now 7 or 8 other deer where running around getting excited and the two bucks went at it again. I then saw two more buck fightting at the same time. I don't know if one of the does was (in) or a little pushing match got out of controll or what but it was cool watching them. Maybe everything is going to happen early this year!!!

I watched a nice 6 pointer and a modest sized forkie battle it out HARD for about 2-3 minutes last Saturday evening. Dust was flying and the other deer were scattering as they whirled all around the place. Normally this early in the season all I see is some light sparring, but this got good.

All the teenagers have new headgear they want to try out.

I would be shocked if you reported a couple of mature bucks going at it this early.

I have seen two different sets of littler guys going at it this year. Makes the night go by fast - just to bring this into another topic maybe I should pee on them when they get close

Your definitely not the only one...bout two weeks ago i watched a decent sized 10pt...maybe a 120 inch buck sparring with a much smaller basket rack buck...lots of other deer on the food plot that night as well and the bucks were getting a little pushy with the does....a definite sign that the bucks are establishing the line of dominancy, prolly not the big ol' boys but from here on it only gets more intense! let the games begin!

damn!!another one. Liv- could you be a crossing guard between 7pm -7am, you might need a orange vest with a crossing sign?
