First of all, congrats on realizing a dream many of us are working on! Are you planning on farming it some, or cash-renting, or share-cropping? Or are you going to let the row-crop portion "get wild" with CRP? Just curious, same sort of place my wife and I are looking for down this way, about three years from now that is.

Actually, as a report back to everyone, I didn't quite make myself clear, I haven't purchased this land, I am on a lease for this season. I am wanting to look the piece over to see if I could go further with purchasing! If all is well, that is the ultimate goal, but we will see how things go this year! Sorry for not making that clear. I am still in the same category of hoping for the right moment to purchase. There are about 3 other sections I have been looking at to purchase, but decided that this section is the one I wanted to check out before pulling the trigger on anything.. As you ALL know, purchasing a nice section is as important(if not more) than selecting a bride!

I say that in hopes that my new wife never reads it!

DoubleA -- marry the right girl and you get the land too! Farmers daughters are hard to beat. Mine came with 2000 acres.

DoubleA, for your sake I won't answer that question... Congrats on your new marriage. I'm pretty new at it myself, almost two years we've been at it now. Our family is about to grow, we're expecting our first any day now!
