Tuff year for me, didn't hunt much this year after losing a farm I hunted for 18 years in Pa. I did have Illinois to look forward to so I kept my spirits up.
Turned out to be a tuff hunt with temps in the mid 70's to 80 degrees for the 1st 5 days I hunted plus full moon & all the corn standing yet really hindered any sightings of mature buck. The last day of my Illinois hunt I finally got a decent buck to respond to the grunt call. He jumped a fence about 65 yards away & came on a string. I drew on him at 25 yards but did not stop him with a narrow shooting lane on that side, of course he angles away & headed into the corn making my heart sink. I began grunting agressively again but he get going, that is until I snort wheezed at him, man that got him to spin on a dime for the last time!
