Finished Panel Mounts

It's that slow time again...thought I'd share a few finished products from my mini taxidermy shop. I've been tinkering with taxidermy for about 10 years and out of all the stuff I've worked on, panel mounts still are my favorite to do. Just thought I'd share a few recent ones....

Here is my normal panel mount on a solid walnut panel -

Just this past weekend I completed one using some 87 year old red barn wood that I got from a guy I work with when a small tornado hit his 1921 barn last spring. It looks much better in person than in these pictures, but I have a new favorite mount now...the rustic look of the barn wood really gives it a nice look. I'll play around with routering the next few to see how that looks, but this one has sanded edges.

And my favorite overall panel mount yet with 4 North Dakota bucks...bucks that my buddy had in the back of his pick up and didn't know what to do with but are now proudly displayed on his office wall...

It's amazing what your average rack will look like hanging on the wall when you actually pull them out of the corner of the garage and do something with them. They might not be Booners but the more antlers on the wall the better!

I really like how you're covering them. Tell us what needs to be done to get them wrapped that nice and clean. Where are you getting your leather and braid? Great looking work forsure.

Awesome looking panels, I like the one with multiple racks! Here are a couple I got done this year, had dad and my brother throw in some ideas to get the final result. Had some Walnuts harvested on our land and found a new use for the tree tops, make great wood plaques!

Those are all pretty cool! It would be neat to do that 4 panel mount on a deer that you had the matched sets from years past...
