first recurve deer

I have been blessed...on Friday night at about 6:18pm I was sitting in my tree stand watching a farmer combine corn in the field next to the grove I was in...Squirrels were busy burrying nuts and chasing each other as the do this time of year...the shadows were getting longer and the light was just beginning to fade.
I glanced over my right shoulder and without warning a nice doe was walking right towards my tree...when I first saw her she was probably 40 yards away, much to far for my abilities with my recurve...and being in no hurry she kept walking, eating, looking around...she looked very relaxed and had no idea I was in that grove that evening.

Once she entered the grove I had an opportunity and took it...picking out the spot I wanted my arrow to find and pulling the bow's string back to my face...I let if fly...the arrow flew beautifully towards this life sustaining gift...

got on the phone and made a few calls, it is a time for celebration...I was so excited that when I tried to climb down out of my tree stand I found that I wasn't going anywhere...I had forgotten to release my harness

She is now in my freezer awaiting consumption...chops/loins, a few roasts, and the rest will be ground into burger at a later date...

Good going! I always say that 170 fps will kill them just as dead as 370 fps. Isn't that a wonderful experience, to harvest a deer with traditional gear?

Congrats! After seeing some of the beautiful bows that Shovelbuck picks up I might give it a try next year as well.
