This rub wasn't there last Sunday, but as I was checking cameras today there it was.

While checking trailcams I have also seen a number of torn up small saplings just this past week. I have yet to see any fresh larger trees rubbed. I have also noticed a dramatic increase in boundary scrape activity. One more month!

I saw a bachelor group of 5 or 6 bucks last night. You could tell all of them were shedding their velvet, but what I found most odd was that 2 of the bigger bucks were sparring. Nothing too extreme, but they were butting heads pretty hard. Is that common this early? Also, anyone know when they break apart from their bachelor groups?

I also seen some sapplings that had been rubbed on the other night checking the camera. Also had a basket run in front of the truck the other morning that was in the beginning process of shedding his velvet.

Replaced the film in my trail cam on Tuesday. No rubs yet. Seen a few buck tracks though. Hopin' to see rubs soon.

Exactly how do you tell them apart from doe tracks? I've heard guy say before that they can tell the difference, but I can't. Is there something that clearly sets them apart?

Look for the 2 dots behind the print. What are they called, du-claws? And if the toe prints are straight or toed out, that's a good sign of a buck.

I have always been told that a doe will walk on her tracks unlike a buck will walk slightly off to the side of his front tracks. And I have been told that you can age a deer by the size of the print? I don't know if this is true but..i will just go ahead and believe it haha

Found this one yesterday...guess there is at least one "velvetless" buck in the area.
Does give one a little rush to see that first rub...only a few more weeks!

We put a foodplot in on Sunday and right on the edge of it was a nice rub. First one I've seen this year. Rained about an hr or two after we seeded it and was real sunny yesterday. Hopefully it will take off now.

I wanted to try something new so we raked up a pretty nice area and planted Biologic Hot Spot. Will post some pics as soon as it starts to sprout.
