First Time Hunting Iowa Where to start?

I should draw an Iowa deer tag next year. I put in for area 6, Need to know about outfitters or ranchers in the area. Or any other ifo that would help this TRADITIONAL bowhunter get started> Thanks JD
 
Don't know about outfitters in that area, but there is a good amount (for Iowa) of public land in that area and if you have the time to check it out I bet you would find some great spots. Good luck with the tag and I hope you have a great time in Iowa.

There are several fellas from that part of the state on here but I know a few of them are in the woods right now. If this doesn't stay at the top for a while I might suggest bringing it back up around February...

I'm not from that part but I did watch a deer hunting show last night that was filming on the Timberghost Ranch. Some nice bucks on there and I believe it's in Burlington, IA. Anyways, welcome to IA and make sure you post pics and tell us a good story.

I'm from Burlington, originally. There are a couple outfitters in the area, that I know of. Timberghost Ranch is one and they have a few thousand acres leased for open hunts. The other is Irish Ridge Outfitters, they also have some really good properties leased.
