We were finally able to make it out yesterday morning after all the Easter shenanigans from the weekend. We were greeted by oodles of roost gobbles while setting up...something my daughter had never heard before. None were very close however but I had high hopes being in the middle of them all. After a 1/2 hour of calling I finally get cut off. Might have a custemor I told the kid. I call again 3 minutes later. This time cut off with a thunderous gobble at 60yds. Mad scramble getting gun up, video on, and ear muffs just in time to see him trotting in. He's huge my daughter says. He runs up to the decoy and goes in full strut for what would be 5 minutes right next to the decoy. Our patience(mine anyway) finally ran out and I told her to shoot it head on as it would not drop strut and remained bumping the decoy. Anyhow she connected! 24x10.5x 1 1/8. This is the third Tom I've watched my kids shoot...those hunts trump all my hunting experiences. If any of you are on the fence in taking a youth hunting, do it!
