Huntcrazy says this is a flying squirel and he is never wrong about to much of anything. I have never seen one myself. Just wondered what you all think?

Could very well be a flying squirrel.... Its kinda hard to see from the picture, but Flying squirrels are very small and primarily nocturnal animals.

Here is a close up of a flying squirrel. They are almost completely nocturnal, hence the great big eyes for gathering more light at night. They are truly neat little creatures and I have only seen a few in my life. I have never seen any in this area. I think it is a pretty cool pic. And Chad, thanks for making me sound like a smarta$$. I know you didn't mean it buddy.

Neat Picture, Chad. Even if he made you sound like one Caleb,it would one from a rare breed of smarta$$es...... one that acutally knows what he is talking about.

I've also had one land right next to my head in a treestand in the early morning darkness! Good thing I was strapped in!

I have seen quite a few of them, but never in Iowa. I have to admit that sure looks like one though.

Having one swoosh by your face when you are bear hunting right before dark will get your adrenaline glands working overtime. Had one coast in and hit the tree right by my face one time. Dang near jumped out of the stand.

We have millions of those little things back home (South eastern MO) and yea, I would call it a flyin squirrel. Little pecker woods get into your shop and chew up everything.

I really want to see the next picture in the series, the one where that buck stomped that little winged rat into the ground.
