Forage Collards

I slung some older seed into the yard at my hunting shack on the North MO/IA border that contained some forage collard seed. A few popped up and are now in their 3rd growing season. I've mowed them down a dozen times and they keep coming back which got me thinking about putting them in a plot with the hope they can act as a perenial food plot.

Mine are 15 ft from the cabin so it's hard to determine if deer will eat them. Has anyone planted them for deer in southern IA and how would you rate the attraction? What time period of the season do they attract the best?

Thanks

So this is going to sound dumb- but we plant them in pasture type area for our chickens- reduces the feed bill significantly. Deer don’t bother them “much” here- and they are in a high deer area. We get the occasional does they come in but there hasn’t been much of a draw here it seems. Not saying that’s everywhere though
