Frost Seed Plot Chemicals

I was able to frost seed a few different spots this year that have never been planted. I killed off the vegetation last fall but I’m assuming most will try and come back. What chemicals can I use to fight off the weeds, grasses, and list likely some woody vegetation? I’m assuming clethodim and 2,4 DB but can they be mixed together for one application and is there something I can add for the woody species?

Clethodim & crop oil for cwhen it’s up and growing & grasses in there. Yes- u can tank mix 2,4-d-b if broadleaves an issue as well.

To piggy back off this - how early can I spray clethodim on frost seeded clover? Or existing clover that I over seeded a couple weeks ago. I have a small plot that was previously reed canary grass and I am wanting to spray it as soon as I can. Is now too early?

Plan on spraying RCG many times. It is a prolific seed producer and seed bank will be well stocked.

similar to the original question, I frost seeded last year and have a solid stand of clover maybe 80% and 20% weeds. I am going to overseed clover again this year. should I spray first then wait for die off and then overseed? or overseed now and spray right after? for those that know how much cleth and butyrac 200 are you using per acre?

I have been using IMOX and Clethodim the last two years with good results, especially on Alfalfa. I am not sure on the effect of those herbicides on newly sprouted clover, but its the cleanest alfalfa I have ever had. Have to spray the IMOX early (April 12th for me). IMOX does have a residual so will not be able to plant other species into it, even in the fall. I will circle back one my white clover really starts growing to see if the IMOX interrupted the frost seeded clover.

Agree! IMOX is great IF and only if sprayed early. Complaints come from folks spraying later when weeds are larger. Not too affective then.
